Patty Cakes™ is a cottage business and open to the public by appointment only. Business hours are Tuesday through Friday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays are reserved for cake deliveries and Patty Cakes™ is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Patty Cakes™ is owned and operated by Patty Russell and has been doing business in the Middle Tennessee area since 1981. Patty graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and for many years after graduation worked in the business field; then for approximately ten years as a legal assistant. She was awarded the Master's Degree in Business Education from Tennessee State University and recently taught high school business classes before deciding to operate Patty Cakes™ full-time.
Patty's mother was a home economics teacher who taught her to bake at an early age. After graduating college, Patty took cake decorating lessons and began sharing her creations with friends at work. Those friends soon began requesting birthday, anniversary, wedding and specialty cakes from her and Patty operated her cake decorating business part-time while pursuing other career goals full-time.
After much encouragement from customers, friends and family, Patty decided in 2002 to operate Patty Cakes™ full-time. After more than 25 years experience baking and decorating cakes, Patty has recently remodeled her home kitchen to accommodate her full-time baking needs. Her new kitchen has been inspected by the Tennessee Department of Health and she holds a food service establishment permit.
Of utmost importance to Patty is the taste of her cakes. She offers free cake tastings by appointment in her home and at area bridal events.
